Maudie is a sleeper doe. Easy to overlook, she doesn’t have her littermate’s spectacular foreudder, she could definitely be more smoothly blended across her topline, her personality is quiet and unassuming. However, Maudie has several features that are valuable to what we are trying to build. Maudie’s rump angle leveled out considerably after her first kidding, and we are quite curious as to how this will change after her second. Very level and elegant when on the move, she is also maturing into greatly improved body capacity, much the way her sire did. Additionally, Maudie seems to truly enjoy her time on the milk stand. She was a difficult doe to dry up, with a long, level lactation and excellent butterfat production. A pleasure to hand milk, she empties quickly and completely, and has very long teats with large orifices. Maudie earned AR stars in butterfat and protein in her first lactation, and narrowly missed production. We are confident that she will not have an issue reaching it in her second lactation. Maudie possesses nice brisket extension and rear leg angulation, and has a good medial for a first freshener. We would love to see a few daughters that could improve on her feet, pasterns, and foreudder extension. She will be appraised in 2024.
