About Mira
Mira is a striking, long-bodied doe with abundant dairy strength and character. Perhaps the clumsiest oaf of a goat you’ll ever meet, Mira is, however, not a graceful creature. We’re hopeful that as she matures, this will continue to improve. We had serious concerns about Mira’s height in her first six months of life. By the age of three months, she was the size of some yearlings. She did taper off and allow others to catch up, but she remains a klutz. She also shares with our Satine a similar penchant for needing to be a part of what you’re doing. All the time. Unfortunately, this leads to similar difficulty in collar training, but fortunately, her passion for animal crackers outweighs her curiosity. Mira possesses considerable length of body, and when on the move (and not trying to be the center of your attention), she’s very striking. Among her other strengths are her naturally uphill stance and prominent brisket. She’s also as impressively wide as she is long. We think that if Mira ever becomes accustomed to her own body, she’ll be one to keep an eye on. The combination of both dairy strength and character is a great one to have.
Mira delivered a stillborn doe on New Year’s Day of 2024. Mira’s first freshening udder shows strong medial and lateral attachments, and long teats with large orifices. We would like to hold on to those strengths and improve upon her foreudder extension in future pairings. Mira is a pleasure to hand milk and has a calm, friendly demeanor on the stand. Even with having no live kids, Mira still milked 2.4 pounds on her first test at 27 days fresh.
